The Rowlett Lady Eagles soccer team is in superb form this season. They are undefeated in seven matches and have a district record of 7-0.

On Feb. 21, the Lady Eagles beat the McKinney Boyd Broncos 2-1, who were the number one ranked team in the nation, hadn’t lost in 41 matches, and were steaming through competition in Division 10-5A.

“Our team so far has played extremely well with intensity,” junior Meagan McCullough said. “And after beating last year’s state champs, McKinney Boyd, I believe we will be able to go far in the playoffs and maybe even make it to state.”

The Eagles, trailing 1-0 at half-time, opened their scoring through Meagan McCullough, and then took lead with a Breanna Powell strike. Unsurprisingly, in their next game, the Lady Eagles beat Lakeview Centennial 6-0 which solidifies the Eagles in first place.

“Our win against Boyd was pretty epic. They are ranked number one in the nation and no one thought we’d beat them,” senior Breanna Powell said, who scored the winning goal. “Once the game was over we had basically had accomplished the unthinkable and I think it really helped our team realize that we are capable of so much more than even we imagined.”
